Energy‑efficient buildings

Less visible, but just as important, is how the buildings themselves perform. Carnival Hub was designed to be highly energy efficient for a large, busy public building, using technologies and solar panels, with capacity for over 300,000 kWh solar generation per year.

Solar has also been integrated into residential development, including at Peach Place where around 114 m² of rooftop photovoltaic panels generate approximately 14,600 kWh of electricity annually.

Carnival Hub leisure centre is recognised as one of the UK’s most energy-efficient facilities of its kind, delivering a significant reduction in carbon emissions compared to the previous building.

This performance is supported by features such as LED lighting with daylight and occupancy controls, ventilation systems that recover and reuse heat, air source heat pumps and smart energy management systems that help the building operate efficiently.

Homes and commercial spaces delivered as part of the regeneration meet modern housing and energy standards, incorporating efficient lighting, heat recovery, low‑carbon heating systems and solar energy where appropriate.

Over time, this helps reduce energy use and supports lower running costs for residents and businesses.
