Step 8: Long-term support
Once a longer-term plan is in place, support may continue for both the child and your family. The type and level of support available will depend on your individual circumstances and the child's needs.
Support available
This may include:
- Financial support, where you are eligible.
- Advice, guidance and training.
- Support with education and health needs.
- Access to support groups and peer networks.
- Help to access other local services and specialist support where needed.
What to expect
- Support will be tailored to the needs of the child and your family.
- Services can adapt as circumstances change over time.
- You can continue to seek advice if new challenges arise.
- We will help you understand what support you may be entitled to and how to access it.
Looking ahead
Caring for a child is a long-term commitment, and support needs can change as children grow and develop. Whether you need practical help, advice, financial support or opportunities to connect with other kinship carers, there may be services available to help.
You don't have to manage everything on your own. We're here to support you and help you access the information, guidance and services that are right for your family.
