Step 6: Ongoing support and reviews
Support does not stop once a child has settled into your care. As a child's needs change over time, the support available to you and your family may change too.
What to expect
- Regular contact with professionals, where services are involved.
- Reviews of the child’s plan to make sure it continues to meet their needs.
- On-going support that can adapt as circumstances change.
- Opportunities to discuss any concerns and ask for help if needed.
Review timescales
Review arrangements will depend on the child's circumstances.
Early Help or Child in Need plans
- Reviews usually take place every 6 weeks
Looked after children
- The first review usually takes place within 20 working days.
-
A second review usually takes place within 3 months.
-
Reviews then take place every 6 months.
Looking ahead
As children grow and family circumstances change, their needs may change too. Regular reviews help ensure the right support is in place and that plans continue to work well for the child and those caring for them.
We're here to support you for as long as support is needed. If you have questions or feel that your circumstances have changed, you can speak to your social worker, if you have one, or contact Kinship Team for advice and guidance.
