Matthews Green Primary School and Community Centre

We gathered feedback from our community regarding the design of Matthewsgreen Primary School and the adjacent community facility and a reserved matters application was approved in February 2018. (ref: 172331). A new primary school will be built in Matthewsgreen as part of the development and is currently under construction. The school will have 1 class per year (1 form-entry), with the ability to expand to 2 classes per year. The school will be built by the council, following the successful transfer of the land this year.  

The community facility will be approximately 500 square metres and will be linked and adjacent to the primary school.  Each building will have a separate entrance and facilities between the school and community centre will be able to be shared if and when needed. There will be a school staff car park as well as community parking and a school drop-off area provided.

Community forums

We haven't been able to hold forums for awhile, but you can sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date with what is happening. 

Future development of the borough

With a lot more housing needed in the borough in the years ahead, we are currently working on our blueprint to ensure the new homes are built in the right places and come with the right schools, roads and facilities.

Updated national government policy provides a standard method for calculating the minimum number of homes that each council should plan for. In order to ensure these homes are properly planned, we are updating our Local Plan, which will set the principles of where and how the homes and other development should be provided.
