Alternative provision

Alternative provision (AP)

Alternative provision is education for pupils who, because of exclusion, illness or other reasons, are not able to receive suitable education in a school or setting.

This support is usually provided for a short, specific period before a child returns to school, other suitable education, or employment alongside part-time study or training.

Sometimes your child’s school will offer them an alternative provision package and sometimes we will offer this option.

Read statutory guidance about alternative provision on GOV.UK.
