SEND education options

Most children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can get the help they need in a mainstream school.

If your child or young person needs a more specialist setting to meet their needs, there are different options available, such as mainstream schools with resource bases and special schools. 

These schools are for children and young people who:

• are going through education, health and care (EHC) needs assessment
• have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
