Emergency plan: what to include
If something happens and you can’t care for someone, it helps to have a plan ready. Here are the important things to write down:
- Name and address of the person you care for
- Who to call in an emergency (family, friends, or support worker)
- Medicines they take and where they are kept
- You can use a “Message in a Bottle” to store this info safely
- Any regular treatments they need
- Any allergies they have
- Doctor and pharmacy phone numbers
- Care plan (if they have one)
- Continence products (like pads): who supplies them, what size, and how often
- Mobility help: like a wheelchair or hoist, and where it's kept
- Behaviour: others should know about (e.g. if they get upset easily or need calm spaces)
