Household waste

Most households have a fortnightly collection from a 180L black-wheeled bin. Some households are on a weekly blue bin bag collection.

Some households have a weekly collection from a communal bin(s).

Check which type of collection your property has been allocated and find your collection day.

Households on fortnightly wheeled bin collection

Your black bin holds, about two full bin bags’ worth of rubbish, more if you put it in loose.

Please note:

  • We will not collect any rubbish left beside or on the bin
  • The lid must be closed.
  • The bin remains the property of the council and should be left at the property when you move home.
  • We recommend your house number or address is clearly displayed so it can be returned to you. You can also decorate your black-wheeled bin using paint, stickers, bin wraps or similar.
  • Waste containers remain the property of the council and should be left at the property when you move home.

Households on a weekly or fortnightly bag collection

You will receive an annual allocation of 54 blue bags in February or each year.

Further information can be found under: Blue Bag Collection

Households with an annexe

Properties with an annex that is registered with council tax will have a separate bin which will require a sticker to identify it as a separate property.

Communal Bins

Bins are allocated to each bin store according to the number of properties sharing them. Waste left outside of the bins will not be collected in addition to the bins. It may also restrict access and prevent the crews from emptying the bins so please be considerate.

Get help putting out waste (Assisted collections)

We offer assisted collections for residents who:

  • are not able to wheel their bin to the edge of their property
  • don’t have anyone else in the house who can do it for them

For residents who qualify, our waste crews will collect, empty, and return their waste containers to and from an agreed location.

Find out more about registering for assisted collections.
