Get help putting out waste
Apply for assisted waste collection
This service is for residents in houses who cannot put their bins out for collection because of illness, disability, or frailty, and who do not have anyone else in the household who can help.
If you are approved for this service, we can collect your bins from your doorstep or another agreed place at the front of your property. We will return the bins to the same place after they are emptied.
We cannot collect bins from behind side or back gates, or from a point more than 25 metres from the kerbside.
Who can use this service
To use this service, all three criteria must be met:
- The elderly, people with a disability, or anyone with a permanent or long-term condition that prevents being able to put out waste
- If there is no other adult in the household able to present the waste
- If the property layout allows safe access for collection crews
Who can’t use this service
- Residents who live in flats and use communal bin stores should contact your managing agent or landlord for assistance
- Households where someone can put the bins out (for example, an able-bodied adult)
- Homes where the person who applied for assisted collections no longer lives at the address
If you are receiving assisted collections and, you no longer need help, please contact us.
Private roads
If you live on a private road, you may need to sign an indemnity form from the Council which we will provide if needed.
This allows our contractor to access the road to collect your bin.
