How to buy blue bin bags

As of 31st July 2024 residents will no longer be able to buy additional blue bags.

  • Visit our online payment service

  • If you can't pay online call us on 0118 974 6000 and select option 2 for waste

  • Make a payment of £11.30 for one roll of 10 blue bags - you are only permitted to purchase one roll at a time
  • Select 'Rubbish and Garden Waste' as the Account Group
  • Select 'Blue Bags - One Roll only (10 sacks)' as the Account Type
  • Provide your name and full address
  • Add to Cart and then Checkout
  • Add your email address to receive an email confirmation with your receipt number

Take your receipt to one of our Collection Hubs to collect your order.

Please be aware that blue bags can not be put out for collection next to your new bin when the collection starts in August.

What to put in blue bin bags

  • General waste which cannot be recycled, reused, or composted
  • Polystyrene
  • Food wrappers, film (can be taken to some supermarkets) and black food trays
  • Vacuum cleaner or floor sweepings
  • Nappies and sanitary waste
  • Hygiene waste incontinence articles, catheters etc)
  • Pet bedding & animal waste  
  • Kitchen wipes & paper towels     

What not to put in blue bin bags

  • Food Waste – put this in the black food waste bin
  • Recyclable items that can be placed in the green bags
  • Garden waste that can be placed in the brown bin
  • Small Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
  • Batteries and vapes
  • Rubble and soil
  • Hot ashes
  • Hazardous clinical waste (sharps, blood products)
  • Asbestos
  • Pesticides, paint, and oils    

Where to collect blue bags with a voucher

If you have moved into the borough, you can order bags as a new resident

If you've missed your annual allocation or are collecting additional bags as you are a larger household you can collect from the following hub locations once you have reported and are in receipt of your voucher.

Putting out blue bin bags

Official Wokingham Borough Council blue bin bags must be left out by 6.30am on your collection day 

  • Tied and left at the edge of your property on top of recycling bags to deter animals
  • Or tied in dustbins but not wheeled bins, left at the edge of your property
  • As near to kerb as possible without causing obstruction  

Bank Holidays

Collections may be earlier than normal on bank holidays so put your blue bin bags and recycling bags out the night before.
