How EHCP annual reviews work

Every year, your child or young person's education, health and care plan (EHCP) is reviewed. This is called an annual review.

It is a formal process and must follow legal requirements. It includes a review meeting.

The review looks at:

  • the progress your child or young person is making towards the outcomes in their EHCP
  • whether the plan still gives them the support they need

As part of the annual review, you can ask for a personal budget. This can be used to arrange and pay for support that has been agreed for your child, or for yourself if you are a young person.
