What can be funded
What can be funded
Your child's care package pays for the support identified in their assessment.
This could include specialist equipment prescribed by a professional.
Where possible, care will be arranged close to where you live. If the care your child needs is not available locally, it may be arranged outside the area. This will always be discussed with you first.
Your child’s GP or main clinical team will continue to manage their healthcare.
Personal budget
You can ask for a personal health budget to arrange the care agreed and funded in the package.
Find out more about personal health budgets on the BOB ICB website.
What cannot be funded
The care package cannot pay for:
- care or support that is normally available through universal services, for example physiotherapy through a GP referral
- equipment that would usually be provided by a care setting
- transport costs (unless there are specific circumstances, such as the need for a medically trained escort)
- educational support, however, in some cases a carer may be provided in school for specific health needs
