Cowshed
They provide free, good-quality clothes and items such as school uniforms, baby equipment, toiletries, bedding and more. Everything is cleaned and ready to use.
To access support, you’ll need a referral from a professional or organisation you’re already in contact with, like a school, GP, social worker, charity, Jobcentre or foodbank. Once referred, they’ll speak with you about what you need and put together items to suit your situation.
If you think this service could help, ask someone supporting you to make a referral.
Healthy Start
If you’re pregnant (10+ weeks) or have a child under 4, you could get help to pay for healthy food and milk through the Healthy Start scheme.
If you qualify, you’ll get a prepaid Healthy Start card that’s topped up every 4 weeks. You can use it in certain UK shops to buy essentials like milk, fruit and veg, pulses, and infant formula.
You can also collect free vitamins for yourself during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and vitamin drops for your child.
