Support from the Virtual School
If you're caring for a child in a kinship care arrangement and have questions or concerns about their education, the Virtual School may be able to help.
We offer advice and guidance to kinship carers and schools to help children get the support they need to attend school, enjoy learning, and do well.
How we can help
Advice and guidance
We can provide advice to kinship carers who have a Special Guardianship Order (SGO) or Child Arrangements Order (CAO).
We can also offer guidance on:
- school attendance
- educational progress and achievement
- engagement with learning
- concerns about school
- changes in education, such as moving schools
Working with schools
With your consent, we can work with your child's school to help them understand and support your child's needs.
We can:
- advise schools on supporting children in kinship care
- offer guidance where there are concerns about attendance, engagement, exclusions, or moving between schools
- help schools understand how family changes, loss, trauma, and attachment difficulties can affect a child's learning, behaviour, and wellbeing
Contact the Virtual School
