If you are expecting a baby or have children

Your Personal Advisor (PA) can:

  • Advise you about benefits including grants
  • Support you to attend antenatal appointments
  • Refer you to parenting support groups and courses
  • Provide you with support to attend antenatal classes or parenting groups
  • Support you to access parenting information, for example via apps or parenting classes
  • Be available to visit you as soon as you are ready after the baby is born and will keep visiting you at a frequency that you agree is right for you
  • Support you to find a childcare option that is suitable for you
  • Support you accessing funding and other related support you might be eligible for
  • Help with referral for a larger property or support you to ensure you have appropriate housing for you and your family
  • We can support you to maintain contact with your child if you child is not in your care, in the way that is agreed. We can for example supporting you with writing letters

We will work with you to identify who can support you through any processes relating to your child, for example around health, or legal processes. This may be your PA or it may be for example sourcing an advocate for you as a parent.

Our Compass Team can provide you with (emotional) parenting support, and help you prepare for the transition to becoming a parent.

The cowshed can provide you with a hamper for first time parents, containing basic items like for example bottles.
