Deputyship Team: Managing other people's finances
The Deputyship Team helps people who can’t manage their money and don’t have anyone else to do it for them. We step in when no one else can help.
We make sure they are safe and supported by:
- Giving them enough money for everyday spending
- Managing their money properly
- Paying all their bills on time
We also manage their benefits, pensions, and other income by following the rules from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Court of Protection. We follow the standards set by the Office of the Public Guardian.
Most importantly, we always make decisions that are in the person’s best interests.
How to get help
The Deputyship team only takes referrals from social workers at Wokingham Borough Council (WBC). If someone needs support and does not have a WBC social worker, they must first have an adult social care needs assessment.
