What should I do if I have too much waste to fit in my bin?
If you’re struggling to fit all your rubbish in your wheeled bin, it may mean you aren’t recycling as much as you could. We’ve found more than half of what some residents put out as general rubbish can and should be recycled.
Recycle as much as possible
Please recycle as much of your waste as you can. Consider the green recycling bags, food waste bins, chargeable garden waste scheme and bring banks throughout the borough. Our goal is to reduce the amount of general waste collected so please do all you can to reduce the amount you produce.
If you’re recycling all you can each week and using all the recycling services provided, you’ll find the amount of rubbish you produce shrinks dramatically.
Help with extra waste
If you regularly have more waste than can fit in your black bin, extra waste capacity may be approved depending on your personal circumstances. We may visit your property to check if you could recycle more and we usually process applications within 4 weeks.
If additional capacity is approved, you will be given a solution to best fit your needs.
