Tell us if your garden waste bin is broken or missing
To make your bin last longer, please make sure that it isn’t overfull, as compacted waste can damage the bin during the emptying process. However, you can request a £40 replacement garden waste bin if you are a paid-up member of the garden waste scheme and your garden waste bin:
- Displays the correct coloured sticker
- Is either broken beyond repair or missing
We will only collect broken garden waste bins when exchanging for a new bin.
If your brown bin is missing a wheel or lid we ask you to make do and mend if possible - damaged bins can be usable with running repairs (such as duct tape for splits). This maximises the life of the bin and helps reduce the environmental impact.
Once a replacement bin has been requested and paid for the damaged bin should be left:
- Empty
- At the edge of your property
- Visible from the highway
The replacement bin will be delivered with the correct sticker already on it, within 15 working days.
If you are reporting as you renew the scheme, place your new sticker on the broken bin, below the handle, if received ahead of the exchange. The crew will then exchange the bin and sticker like for like.
Report and pay for a replacement bin
We will replace free of charge any bins that have fallen into the vehicle or been damaged by the crew on collection day and reported by crews. If you believe this to be the case, contact us , so we can check the crew reports.
