Parking restrictions

Parking restrictions are rules that control where, when, and how long you can leave a vehicle on public roads or in designated areas. If we receive a report of vehicles blocking access, restricting the flow of traffic or restricting visibility, which is causing a safety concern, we investigate and consider implementing a parking restriction.

Our Traffic management team do not enforce existing parking restrictions. For parking enforcement where parking restriction are already in place, please contact our parking team directly

Eligibility check for requesting a new parking restriction

Parking restrictions are only implemented in areas where there is a genuine need for safety, accessibility, or traffic management.

In order to proceed with your request, you must meet the following criteria. If you do not meet these requirements, your application will not be considered.

Your request must be related to a safety issue (e.g., visibility, emergency access)
The issue you are experiencing must be a consistent parking congestion or issues affecting traffic flow in your area
You must be able to evidence support from the local community about the parking issue – this can include neighbours, parish councillors, and/or local ward members
You must be able to provide evidence of the issue (e.g., photographs, reports)

Reason for request

You will be asked for the specific reason you are requesting parking restrictions. In your response, please ensure you include details such as the safety concern, accessibility problem, or the impact on traffic flow in your area. Your application will not be processed without a valid reason.

Supporting evidence

Please upload any evidence you have to support your application. This can include photographs, traffic reports, or any other documentation showing the need for a parking restriction.

Community support

For parking restriction applications that affect a larger area, we may require community support including neighbours. Please confirm within your application if you have consulted with your neighbours.

Reviewing your request

Applications will be assessed based on safety, traffic flow, and community needs.

False or misleading information may result in your application being denied.

Requesting a parking restriction

It is important that when reporting a concern, you explain the issue and the outcome you would like to see.
Your concerns will be assessed by an officer and they will recommend an appropriate course of action.
You will receive a response indicating the outcome of this assessment
