Road closures

Will there be any road closures?

Although we aim to carry out construction works in phases to minimise disruption, there will be some closures while they take place - this is required for the carriageway works. Pedestrian access will always be maintained for all businesses and we’ll do all we can to maintain deliveries to all businesses through traffic management.

At present, the works have been planned to take place in phases. The plans are available to view below. During these works, access will be provided for residents, businesses and schools via the signed diversion routes in place.

This improvement project which started in February 2024, has an estimated completion date of September 2024.

Phase 1

Finchampstead Road will be closed from the Ratepayer Hall to the crossroads and Nine Mile Ride will be closed from just past Gorse Ride to the crossroads. Access will be maintained to properties along these roads within the closure. Official diversion routes for Phase 1 can be found on one.network.

Phase 2

Finchampstead Road will be closed from Wild Acres Rest Home to the crossroads and Nine Mile Ride will be closed from the junction of Wick Hill Lane to the crossroads. Access will be maintained to properties along these roads within the closure.

Phase 3

Traffic lights will be in place around the crossroads during this phase.

Further information in regards to the schedule of these works will be updated regularly on the current status page where all our newsletter updates can also be found.

Bus diversions

Bus companies will continue to serve as much of their routes in the area as possible.  However, some locations will need to be temporarily closed for the duration of the project.

Reading Buses

The Leopard 3 bus service, provided by Reading Buses, has now reverted back to the usual route and the bus stops outside of the Ratepayers Hall and Cresswells Garage have been reinstated

For the latest information about bus routes, diversions and changes to bus stop locations throughout the project, please visit Reading Buses website.

Thames Valley

Thames Valley Buses diverted route utilising Foxcote and Kiln Ride will continue throughout phase two, with a replacement stop remaining in operation along Windsor Ride.

Information regarding bus routes will be available on the Thames Valley Buses website for the duration of the scheme.

Stagecoach bus service

Stagecoach, who provide a bus service for local school pupils and college students, has advised they are not be serving the bus stop at the Ratepayers Hall throughout phase two and three of this improvement project.

The bus is now be on a diversion and unable to serve Finchampstead Road between California Crossroads and Finchampstead War Memorial.

Students for Yateley School and the colleges in Farnborough are advised that for the remainder of the school year, the bus will start at the Barkham Ride bus stop on Finchampstead Road. The morning pick-up time here will be brought forward to 7:33am.

The bus will then run non-stop via Finchampstead Road, Sandhurst Road, Lower Wokingham Road and Wellingtonia Avenue to rejoin the normal route at Finchampstead War Memorial. The reverse of this diversion will apply in the afternoon.

Further details can be found on the Stagecoach website and they can be contacted directly on 0345 241 8000 Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am to 5pm
