A new multi-use hall at The Piggott School underway
The expansion is part of a phased project to allow an additional 230 pupils.

Construction on a new multi-use hall at The Piggott Church of England School in Wargrave is underway. Wokingham Borough Council is working with a number of schools, including The Piggott School, to provide additional secondary school places.
The expansion at The Piggott School is part of a phased project to allow an additional 230 pupils, with enhanced sixth form facilities. The school has been contributing to the borough’s secondary school sufficiency since 2022.
The new building includes a main hall and dining area, plus a dedicated working space and staff office.
Works are proceeding to schedule. The new hall’s shell and roof are built and the building is now watertight. Completed works include the installation of windows and doors, underfloor heating and screeding the floor.
The internal works will now start which include the construction of new internal walls, the initial first fix electrical, mechanical and data wiring, and internal lining of external walls.
Executive member for children’s services, Cllr Prue Bray said: “I am delighted work is progressing at The Piggott School. The new main hall and dining area will provide more space for pupils, which will help provide more secondary places across the borough. We want to ensure each child in our borough has access to education by providing fair opportunities for everyone which is why the council continues to invest in school facilities.”
Chief Executive Officer for Agape Multi-Academy Trust, Derren Gray said: “The Piggott School continues its commitment to working with the local authority to meet the local community’s need for places at the school in current and future years, and welcomes this investment in the school estate.”
The contractors for this project are Contract Trading Services Ltd based in Wokingham. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The Piggott School’s project phases include:
- Science department alterations and lab extension. Completed October 2024
- Four flood lit all weather netball/tennis courts. Completed Spring 2025
- Multi-use hall. Expected completion by December 2025
The Piggott School is one of many schools the council is investing in. Last year, work was completed on a new dining hall at The St Crispin’s School in Wokingham and this year work on a new sixth form at Bohunt Wokingham in Arborfield also started.
