Changes in circumstances and care needs

If your circumstances change while receiving care services, you are entitled to seek advice, information, and an assessment of your needs. This assessment can help ensure that your care is appropriately tailored to your current situation, so you are not paying for unnecessary services. Your entitlement to support is not dependent on your financial situation.

Financial assessment

If your financial situation changes and your capital is nearing or has dropped below £23,250, you should request a financial assessment or reassessment. If you have eligible care needs, this assessment will help determine whether you qualify for financial assistance towards your care costs.

Backdating of adult social care support

Adult Social Care can only look at financial and care support from the date you contact the Health and Social Care Hub. If you arrange care before then, it will be treated as private care and can’t be backdated.
