Evidence needed to support you application

If you are making an in year application for your child, it’s likely that you will need to attach supporting documents to your application. It’s important that you attach all the required evidence at the time of application so the team can process your application swiftly.

If you do not attach the required evidence, your application will be put on hold whilst the team email you and request evidence, it will then take up to 15-school days to process from receipt of sufficient evidence. If you do not provide evidence in a timely manner your application may be closed.

Arriving from overseas

If you have recently arrived from overseas, we will need to set up an education record for your child. To do this we must use your child’s full legal name. Please provide the following supporting documentation with your application:

  • A copy of the photo page of your child’s passport or
  • A copy of your child’s short birth certificate

Address evidence

School admissions will use council tax records to check that the applicant has lived at the property for more than 6-months. If the applicant has lived in the property for a shorter duration or does not appear on council tax records, you will be asked to provide one of the following:

  • A fully signed tenancy agreement
  • A letter confirming exchange of contacts or completion on the purchase of the property

For any other situation please read pages 11 - 17 of the Coordinated in-years admissions scheme.

In addition, if you are moving within a 20-mile radius you will be asked to demonstrate that you have vacated or disposed of your previous property, please provide one of the following:

  • End of tenancy documentation or communication with your letting agent or landlord
  • A letter confirming exchange of contacts or completion on the sale of the property

For any other situation please read pages 11 - 17 of the Coordinated in-years admissions scheme

Changing schools but not moving

If you're not moving house but want your child to change schools for other reasons, we will confirm your address using council tax records. Should we require any evidence we will email you.

If you are moving your child to another school because your child is unhappy, we recommend that you talk to the school before deciding to change, as this can be disruptive to your child’s education.
