Day nurseries

Day nurseries provide care for children from 3 months to school age. Most are open year-round, including during school holidays, and offer full day sessions - typically from 8am to 6pm. You can find a list of all the day nurseries in the borough in our families directory.

Pre schools

Pre schools are often run by a voluntary committee and usually care for children from aged 3 until they start school, although some accept children from age of 2.

They typically offer sessional care, often 3-hour sessions, such as 9am to 12pm and usually follow school terms dates, meaning they're closed during the school holidays. Many also offer breakfast and lunch clubs, allowing children to attend for a full school day if space is available.

Admissions policies vary by pre school, so it's best to check directly with the one you're interested in.
