Fly-tip tipping harms the local environment, looks unsightly, attracts vermin, can cause harm to wildlife, pollutes land and watercourses. Our role 

We investigate and remove fly-tipped waste found on council owned or managed land.  

We use enforcement powers, including fixed penalty notices to address: 

  • Littering 
  • Fly-tipping 
  • Graffiti and fly-posting 
  • Dog fouling 
  • Misuse of litter bins 

Enforcement action helps protect the environment and ensures fairness for residents who dispose of waste responsibly. 

If you witness fly-tipping 

Should you witness fly-tip tipping, do not put yourself in any danger. Should you witness fly-tipping, do not put yourself in any danger.  

Make note of:

  • The date, time and location
  • The vehicle registration, the model, make and colour of the vehicle (a photograph of the vehicle if possible) 
  • A description of the person 
  • The items being fly-tipped 

You may be asked to provide a witness statement should legal action be taken.
