Waste collection changes 2026
We’re starting a new waste collection contract with Biffa from 1 June. Some residents will see changes to their collections.
This is due to changes in collection routes, which are being made to make collections more efficient.
The majority of residents will see no changes to their collection day. You will be notified directly if there are any changes to your home.
Day changes
About 1,000 households will have a change in collection day. These will be notified directly by letter.
Fortnightly collections will continue with recycling and general waste picked up on alternate weeks. Food waste will continue to be collected every week.
Narrow lanes
About 500 households will move from weekly blue bag collections to alternative weekly collections.
Residents will join the majority of the borough and get general waste picked up one week from a wheeled bin and recycling from green bags the next week.
Food waste will continue to be collected every week. These will be notified directly by letter.
New wheeled bins for these properties will be delivered in May and should start being used from 1 June.
From 1 June, these properties will be able to get a wheeled bin for garden waste. You can subscribe on our garden waste page or follow the link below.
