Litter bins

Overflowing or replacement rubbish bins

Litter bins are for small items of everyday litter, which you need to dispose of whilst you are out - please use litter bins responsibly so they can be used by everyone.

Please ensure all waste fits fully inside the bin and does not overflow. Waste left at the side of the bins may be treated as Fly-tipping. Using litter bins for household or commercial waste may also be treated as Fly-tipping

What can be put in litter bins

  • Food wrappers and packaging
  • Drinks containers
  • Tissues and paper

What can't be put in litter bins

  • Household waste or rubbish from your home
  • Garden waste
  • Commercial waste from businesses
  • Hot ashes, chemicals, or hazardous materials

Dog waste

  • Dog waste should be placed in a bag and put into a dog waste bin or a standard litter bin, unless signage says otherwise
  • Do not leave dog waste beside bins or hang bags from trees, fences, or posts

Overflowing bin

We aim to prevent bins from overflowing, but if one does become full please report it and we will respond within 1 working day.

Report an overflowing bin

Broken or missing bin

To report a broken or missing bin, please tell us the number found either on the bin or use the pin on the map, so we can identify the location.

Emptying litter bins

Litter bins are emptied once or twice a week, depending on the location. If a litter bin is repeatedly vandalised or misused, we may make the decision to remove it.

Where a litter problem exists, we will monitor and review areas and consider relocating existing underused litter bins rather than installing new ones.
