Peacock Lane

We are improving the existing junction of Waterloo Road, Old Wokingham Road and Peacock Lane in Wokingham.

The current layout is a priority-controlled T-junction, with Waterloo Road giving way to Peacock Lane and Old Wokingham Road.

We will be introducing a three-arm roundabout, alongside shared cycle and pedestrian facilities, new drainage and streetlighting.

The new roundabout will address issues around congestion and safety, improving vehicle movement in the area.

The improvements at this junction form an important part of the South Wokingham Distributor Road project by providing essential infrastructure for housing growth.

The South Wokingham Strategic Development Location is a major, long-term development project, aimed at delivering about 2,500 new homes, along with the distributor road and community infrastructure

The planning application for Peacock Lane was approved by Bracknell Forest Council in February 2026 and you can read more about the proposal on the planning portal.

As the plans have only recently been approved, we are still working on the timeline for these works, but we will let you know via our social media channels and South Wokingham newsletter when we have an update.

Design overview

The three-arm roundabout will feature two-lane entry on Old Wokingham Road and Peacock Lane, with single-lane entry from Waterloo Road.

Shared footway and cycleways will be integrated throughout the junction to improve active travel facilities.

There will be three uncontrolled crossing points, with one on each arm of the roundabout.

The plans include the provision of a dedicated right‑turn lane into Easthampstead Park.
