Earley Town and Shinfield Parish Council by-election results
Liberal Democrats win in Earley, while Conservative candidates take seats in Shinfield
Residents went to the polls yesterday (Thursday 11 December) in by-elections for Earley Town Council (one seat) and Shinfield Parish Council (three seats).
Votes were counted overnight in Shute End, Wokingham after polling stations closed at 10pm at Maiden Place Community Centre in Earley, and Shinfield Players Theatre and Three Mile Cross Church Centre in Shinfield.
The results were as follows:
Hawkedon Ward, Earley Town Council (1 seat)
- Gregory Jackson, Reform UK – 167 votes
- Madhu Ranga, Conservative – 257 votes
- Stuart Simpson, Green – 83 votes
- Jacky Steele, Labour – 32 votes
- Keith Yabsley, Liberal Democrats – 298 votes (Elected)
There were 838 ballots and the turnout was 28.00%.
As a result, the number of councillors for each party on Earley Town Council is:
- Liberal Democrats 18
- Conservative 5
- Labour 2

Grazeley Ward, Shinfield Parish Council (1 seat)
- Chris Johnson, Liberal Democrats – 151 votes
- Anthony Pollock, Conservative – 166 votes (Elected)
There were 321 ballots. The turnout was 20.72%.

Shinfield North Ward, Shinfield Parish Council (2 seats)
- Parry Batth, Reform UK – 116 votes
- Alex Nezhuvingal, Liberal Democrats – 77 votes
- Greg Poole, Conservative – 147 votes (Elected)
- Jackie Rance, Conservative – 148 votes (Elected)
- Dominic Rider, Liberal Democrats – 107 votes
- Robin Snell, Labour – 97 votes
There were 407 ballots and the turnout was 16.61%.
Shinfield Parish Council is apolitical.
