Translating webpages
There are several easy ways to translate a webpage into another language. Below are step‑by‑step options depending on the browser you're using.
Google Chrome
Using the Google Translate Extension
- Open Chrome and go to the menu (three dots in the top-right corner).
- Select Settings.
- In the left-hand menu, click Extensions.
- Scroll to the bottom and select Get more extensions.
- Search for Google Translate and click Add to Chrome.
- When it's installed, click the Google Translate icon at the top right of your browser to translate the page.
Using the Right-Click Menu
You can also translate without installing anything:
- Visit a webpage in another language.
- Right‑click anywhere on the page.
- Select Translate to [your language].
Microsoft Edge (and similar browsers)
Many browsers, including Edge, have built‑in translation tools:
- Open the Settings menu.
- Go to Languages.
- Add or reorder your preferred languages.
- When you visit a page in another language, the browser can:
- Automatically translate it, or
- Show a pop‑up asking if you want it translated.
Safari (Mac)
To translate a page in Safari:
- Click the aA icon on the left side of the address bar.
- Select Translate to… and choose your language.
- When prompted, click Enable Translation.
- The page will reload in your chosen language.
Use the aA menu again to change the language or turn translation off.
