Proof to send when you’ve changed your name

You can make a change to the name on your bill if: 

• it is spelt incorrectly
• you changed your name due to marriage
• you legally changed your name 

To change a name, you will need to provide the following details –  

• The date of change
• A digital copy of your marriage or deed poll document
• Your Council Tax reference number 

Refund processing time

Processing times for Council Tax refunds can vary depending on a number of factors, including the council’s workload and the complexity of the refund request. In general, the processing time is around 4 weeks from date of submission.
