SEND Employability Hub

SEND Employability Hub

We're opening a new post-16 hub in Wokingham town centre from September 2026.

The hub is for young people who:

  • have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • are moving into Year 12 (aged 16 and over)
  • may have faced additional barriers to education such as difficult life experiences, learning needs or mental health challenges
  • need some extra support to build their skills and reach their potential

What the hub will offer

The hub plans to offer two routes. You can find more details below, but the course content might change based on what students need and what they are interested in.

Employability route

This route helps you get ready for work. You might learn how to:

  • write a CV and prepare for interviews
  • work as part of a team and complete workplace tasks
  • build confidence with communication and learn from feedback
  • mange money, time and transport

Vocational route

This route gives you hands-on experience in different careers. You might try:

  • catering and hospitality - preparing food safely in a kitchen setting
  • multi-trade - using tools safely and basic trade skills
  • hair and beauty - learning salon skills, hygiene and grooming

Pastoral support

You will also get support with:

  • emotional wellbeing and mental health
  • developing social skills
  • staying engaged with learning
  • personal safety and resilience

How to apply

If you are interested in the SEND Employability Hub for September 2026, contact the SEND Team to let them know this is your preference.

This is part of a process called a phase transfer. You can read more about it in the section on moving into post-16 education with an EHCP.
