Have your say on things that affect you

Supporting care leavers to be an active member of their local community

Get involved and have your say

Sharing your views helps us understand what’s going well and where we could do things better, so we can improve support for care leavers.

There are a few different ways you can get involved. You might want to have your say, meet with the Lead Member for Children’s Services or senior staff, or be part of shaping plans for Children in Care and Care Leavers.

At events throughout the year, Children in Care and Care Leavers get regular chances to meet the Lead Member for Children’s Services. These are friendly, relaxed spaces where you can share ideas. Even just saying what you think can help improve things for young people across Wokingham.

You can also get involved in interviewing for roles within Children’s Services if that’s something you’re curious about. We’ll make sure you get the training and support you need to feel comfortable and confident.

If you want to talk it through, your Personal Adviser (PA) is always there to help.

“I go to care leavers forum. I feel elated knowing that I know such a fabulous group of people. Getting the opportunity to share my voice and talking to others has been an excellent chance to express myself as a 17-year-old”

- Aarav, Care Leaver

Aspire Children in Care Council
