Getting ready for work: financial support

Practical and financial support to get you work-ready and moving forward

We understand that transitioning into the world of work after leaving care can come with its own set of challenges. We’re here to support you, and that includes helping out financially with things like:

  • Having the right clothes so you feel confident going into an interview

  • Supporting you with your first two Job Centre appointments, for example with travel warrants or reimbursement of travel

  • Covering travel costs to get you to interview

  • Helping with your first month of travel to work if it’s a bit too far to walk

  • Putting money towards industry‑recognised qualifications (e.g. SCSC card) where they’ll help you move forward (we’ll talk this through in a needs assessment)

  • Supporting you with applying for important ID, like a birth certificate, passport, national insurance number or driving licence

  • Help support you to apply for a bank account

“I accessed financial support from the local offer to help me break down barriers and achieve my goals. Make sure you ask your PA about what support you may be entitled to”
