Support if you’re seeking asylum on your own

Help with healthcare, documentation, bank accounts, and accessing wider support services.

We know that moving to a new place without your parents or family and having to deal with lots of new things can feel overwhelming at times. We’re here to support you, listen to you, and help make things feel a bit easier.

Here’s some of the ways we can help you:

  • We will take on a legal parental role under something that is called a Section 20, this allows us to support you and help you in absence of your parents

  • We’ll check in with you regularly and talk about how you’re feeling, both mentally and physically

  • We can help you get vaccinations and health checks, so you can stay well

  • We’ll support you to get a Tuberculosis (TB) test

  • You will be supported to have access to dentists and opticians checks

  • We will help link you with legal support by referring you to a immigration solicitor to help you with your asylum claim

  • We’ll support you to go to Home Office meetings, so you’re never facing them alone

  • We’ll make sure a translator is always there at meetings, so you can fully understand and be understood

  • If you need extra support, we can put you in touch with other services that can help

  • We can help you sort out important documents and keep track of them

  • We can help you step by step with opening a bank account and explain everything clearly

  • If you’ve lost touch with your family, we can help connect you with services such as the Red Cross, that may be able to help find them, where possible

Your Personal Advisor (PA) will talk things through with you, help you understand what is happening, and support you to plan for the future. Together, you will look at different possible outcomes of your asylum claim, so you feel prepared and know what to expect in each situation. Chat to your Personal Advisor (PA) about how they can help you settle into the area and access services.
