Help if you’ve been in trouble or affected by crime

Practical, emotional, and ongoing support if you’re involved with the police, courts, or prison

We’ll listen to you, take you seriously, and stay by your side through whatever you’re dealing with. You don’t have to handle this on your own and we’ll take it one step at a time, together.

Here’s how we can support you:

  • If you’re interviewed by the police, we’ll be there to support you and help you understand what’s happening.
  • If you’re detained in custody, we will make sure you’ve got the support you need whilst you’re there, advocate on your behalf, making sure you are provided with an appropriate adult and that you have been provided a solicitor.

  • If you’re going through legal proceedings, we’ll support you to make sure your side of the story is heard and that you’re treated fairly and with respect.

  • Your Personal Advisor (PA) will stay in regular contact with you, visit you, and be someone you can talk things through with. We’ll also work closely with probation services and your legal team, making sure everything is explained in language you understand.

  • Your PA will come to visit you in prison and they will continue to review your pathway plan to ensure that we are still helping you work towards your future and continue to develop your independence skills.

  • You’ll also receive a festival allowance. This will be included in your pathway plan and your assigned worker in prison will talk it through with you.

When you’re leaving prison

As you get ready to leave prison, Housing and Children’s Services will work together to make sure you’ve got somewhere suitable to live when you’re released. There’ll also be support in place to help you keep your accommodation

Your PA will be there to talk this through with you.

If you’re a victim or witness of a crime

If you’ve been affected by a crime, whether as a victim or a witness, we’re here for you.

We can help you report what’s happened, stay in touch with the police, and deal with any follow‑ups.

We will help you think about a safety plan and what support you need if you are worried or concerned.

You don’t have to do this on your own, speak to your PA.
