New community equipment services provider

Learn about the changes in provider

From 1 August, Millbrook Healthcare will be the new provider of community equipment services across Berkshire. This includes essential equipment such as mobility aids, hoists, and hospital beds. These help people live independently at home and support safe hospital discharge.

Millbrook Healthcare is a national provider with great experience in the sector. We’re working closely with other Berkshire authorities and NHS partners to make the transition as smooth as possible with minimal disruption service users.

Reason for the change

NRS Healthcare, the previous provider, ceased trading on 31 July.

Transition arrangements

Millbrook Healthcare will begin by focusing on urgent needs, such as hospital discharges. The full service will be phased in over the coming months.

Key information for residents

  • Care plans will remain unchanged.
  • There may be short-term delays in equipment delivery or servicing during the transition.
  • Equipment provided by NRS Healthcare should continue to be used as normal.
  • Equipment that is no longer needed should be kept for now. Instructions for returns will be provided soon.
  • Pendant alarms are not affected by this change and will continue to function as usual.
  • Existing and bespoke equipment orders will be fulfilled by Millbrook Healthcare. Some delays may occur.
  • New equipment requests should continue through the usual contact methods. Urgent and complex needs will be prioritised.
  • Millbrook Healthcare is now responsible for servicing all equipment.
  • Residents who are able to purchase basic equipment (such as walking aids) are encouraged to do so. This helps prioritise resources for those with more complex needs. The Ask Sara tool remains available for adult social care clients seeking guidance.
