What is Adult Social Care?

Adult Social Care helps people over the age of 18 who need some extra support to live the lives they want to lead.

You, or someone you care about, may need some extra support due to a disability or a health condition. You may need support as a carer if you regularly help a family member or friend manage everyday life.

Changing the Story of Social Care

  • How we write and talk about social care is an important part of who we are. It reflects our organisation and the values we work towards every day.
  • Following the principles in Changing the Story of Social Care Lets Talk About Language (pdf 1.55mb), we aim to communicate in ways that are honest, clear and kind. We are committed to using language that uplifts, includes and respects everyone we work with.
  • We’re continuing to develop or adult social care content, so if you notice anything that could be clearer or improved, we’d welcome your feedback. Email getinvolved@wokingham.gov.uk.
