Un-licenced Venue
Perhaps you have found the perfect place to get married within the borough, but this isn’t licenced to do legal ceremonies? That’s fine. You can still book a ceremony with us, to take place at your chosen venue. This will not be a legal ceremony, but it will give you the opportunity to have your ceremony in a place that’s right for you. You could even book your Register Office ceremony beforehand and have the same Registrar from this ceremony conduct your celebration on the day.
For more information about our celebration ceremonies, please email us at registrars@wokingham.gov.uk
The Wokingham Ceremony Room
At the Wokingham Office, we offer 2 licenced rooms. The Wokingham Ceremony room is available 7 days a week and can accommodate up to 28 people, including the couple. This is perfect for those who are looking to have a more intimate ceremony with close family and friends.
Here are some key bits you will need to know about the room:
Photos and video recording
We’re happy for you to take any photos or videos during the ceremony. If you do not have a professional photographer, we would ask that you designate one guest to be in charge of this. The registrar on the day will talk to your photographer.
Music and flowers
Our room has silk flowers on pedestals as standard. However, we are happy for you to decorate the room as you wish for your ceremony. Please get in touch with us before hand if you would like to do this, so we can arrange a time for this to be done.
If you would like music played during the ceremony we are happy for you to do this. Our registrars will not be able to control the music on the day, so you will need to allocate one of your guests to be in charge of this. We do have a music player you can use on the day, but we highly recommend bringing your own with you if you can.
Parking
If you are looking to book a weekday ceremony, there is no parking available. However, there are pay and display carparks within a 5 to 10 minute walk from the office. There are also hour-long free parking bays near the Elms Field park, which you can use. For ceremonies on the weekend, the council car park is open for pay and display parking.
The Register Office
Our other licenced room is the Wokingham Register Office. This room is used for very simple legal ceremonies and is for the couple and two witnesses only. We are unable to let any additional guests in the room, including any children.
You can book this ceremony to take place within the next three months, on a Tuesday or Thursday at 11.30am or 12pm. If there is a specific date you are looking to book, we recommend calling exactly 3 months before that date. This will give you the best chance of booking in terms of availability.
Parking at the council offices is limited to 30 minutes free parking on weekdays. We recommend arriving no earlier than 5 minutes before the ceremony.
