Technical information about this website's accessibility

Wokingham Borough Council is committed to making its website accessible, in line with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No.2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance Status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances outlined below.

1. WCAG 2.4.3 Focus Order - Hamburger menu and tabbing. Currently there is an issue with the site where using the Tab key to navigate through menu items. The journey is not constrained within the menu, but continues on through the whole site. A user can navigate as they need to with 'shift-tab' but it is not as straightforward as it should be. We have raised this with our suppliers to investigate and fix with an estimate of 8 weeks for the work to be done.

2. WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible - Hamburger menu and tabbing to 'close'. We are aware of an issue with focus that prevents the user being able to cycle through the menu options using the 'tab' key and close the hamburger. The user has to 'tab back' to reveal the 'close' button again. We are working with our suppliers on an update which will improve and fix this issue. We expect this to be in place in 8 weeks.

3. WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow - At 400% zoom and on a small screen (320x256) the top of the cookie banner is cut off. We have raised this with our suppliers to investigate and fix with an estimate of 12 weeks.

Our Chat Bot helper has text reading 'Wokingham Borough Council' that at 400% magnification is cut off. We have discussed with the third party provider and they have not been able to fix this. As it does not stop functionality of the Chat bot, we continue to use it. We have a longer term goal (12 months) of improving the Chat bot functionality and as part of this we want to ensure this issue is fixed.
