CONTRACT:                        One year Fixed Term

About the Role

This is a fixed term contract (term time only) to provide support required by individual pupils alongside some small group work in class.  This is a fixed term contract which will terminate July 2027 but may be extended for the academic year 2026-2027 subject to approved funding.

About Us

Gorse Ride Schools is a vibrant, 1 form entry federated Nursery, Infant and Junior School with an environment designed to encourage every child, of all ages and abilities, to achieve their maximum potential.  Our children are energetic, keen to learn and enjoy being challenged.   We are immensely proud of our school and our children – who are our greatest ambassadors. They are respectful, responsible, hard-working, fun-loving and well-rounded individuals who thrive in the ethos of a school that allows them to discover their strengths, take risks in their learning and set challenges for themselves.

We take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously, and we work hard to make sure our school has effective safeguarding systems in place. We expect everyone working in the school to share a common objective to help keep children and young people safe by contributing to:

  • Providing a safe environment for children and young people to learn in
  • Identifying children and young people who are likely to suffer significant harm and taking appropriate action with the aim of making sure they are kept safe both at home and in the education setting.

We can offer you:

  • A positive, caring ethos with children and learning at the heart of all we do
  • Happy children who are enthusiastic, motivated and engaged learners
  • Talented, friendly and supportive teaching and admin teams
  • Good relationships with parents, carers and the wider community

About You

Your role will be to support the learning and wellbeing of children with ASD alongside and in consultation with other school staff. As part of the role you would also support during lunchtimes. We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive Learning Mentor who can work within a classroom alongside a teacher, 1:1 and with small groups. Experience with working with ASD children is advantageous but not essential.

Can you:

  • show creativity in motivating, engaging and challenging children in their learning
  • be resilient and reflective, always striving to improve
  • be positive, caring and enthusiastic
  • be a team player who supports others and shares good practice
  • be flexible and adaptive to change
  • work alongside outside agencies to deliver specific programmes of work

Do you have:

  • good behaviour management
  • experience of working with children with special needs such as ASD / learning difficulties
  • ability to work in a team
  • ability to work 1:1 and in small groups
