Do you believe that strong relationships, consistency and a nurturing approach can change children’s lives?

Keep Hatch Primary School is seeking to appoint a committed and compassionate SEMH Specialist Resource Base Teaching Assistant to join our team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our brand-new Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) and play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs within a caring, inclusive school community.

The Role

As an SEMH Specialist Resource Base Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with the class teacher to support learning for a small group of pupils with SEMH needs within the Specialist Resource Provision.
  • Provide emotional, behavioural and academic support, helping pupils to regulate, engage and make progress.
  • Support the delivery of a personalised, nurturing curriculum.
  • Help create a safe, calm and predictable environment through consistent routines and relational practice.
  • Support pupils during learning activities, social times and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Contribute to assessment, observation and monitoring of pupils’ progress and wellbeing.
  • Work positively with families, staff and external professionals to support pupils effectively.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and model the school’s values at all time

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEMH, SEND or additional needs
  • Demonstrates a nurturing, patient and calm approach, even in challenging situations.
  • Understands the importance of relationships in supporting behaviour and learning.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers and leaders.
  • Communicates well with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Is committed to supporting inclusion and helping every child achieve their potential.

Whether you are an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant or someone with a strong interest in supporting children with additional needs, we would welcome your application.
