Wokingham Town Council is seeking a full-time (37hrs per week) Grounds Person to join our dedicated Parks Team—playing a key role in maintaining and enhancing the green spaces that our community values and enjoys every day.

Days of work to include a Saturday.

We will consider part time working requests and/or job shares.

About the Team:
You’ll be joining a friendly, supportive, and hands-on team that shares a genuine passion for the environment and community wellbeing. We work closely together and alongside local volunteers to care for our town’s parks and open spaces, building strong community connections along the way.

About the Role:
In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll help manage and maintain eight parks and open spaces across Wokingham town area.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Takes pride in delivering high standards
  • Has a keen eye for detail
  • Is resilient, proactive, and enjoys working outdoors in all seasons
  • Will directly contribute to creating safe, welcoming, and well-maintained spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.

What We’re Looking For:
To be shortlisted, your application should clearly demonstrate:

  • Strong time management and the ability to work independently
  • Experience engaging with a range of people, including colleagues and the public
  • Knowledge of horticulture, or a willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • A full UK driving licence

 Salary & Benefits:

  • £27,000 per annum (£14.03 per hour)
  • Generous annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
