Deputy to Parish Clerk, Executive Officer & RFO

Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Parish Clerk (who also acts as Executive Officer and RFO) in the effective day-to-day management of Council operations
- Leading the coordination, delivery and monitoring of Council projects and initiatives, including procurement and contract management
- Supporting governance, compliance and the Council’s statutory responsibilities
- Supporting the RFO in overseeing the Council’s financial processes and controls
- Working collaboratively with councillors, committees and external stakeholders
About You:
In this senior role, you will play a key part in supporting the delivery of council services, projects and governance, working within a small, friendly team alongside proactive councillors.
- Highly organised with strong administrative and coordination skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Confident communicator with a professional approach
- Experience in project, administrative or local government work desirable
About Us:
Finchampstead Parish Council is the first tier of local government, at the heart of the community, delivering local services, managing facilities and supporting initiatives that enhance the area for residents. Finchampstead Parish Council is one of the larger local Councils in Wokingham Borough with a population of C 12500 and an electorate of C 9000. It is expanding due to extensive local development which has brought significant Community Infrastructure Levy funds to the Council. These provide the opportunity to deliver ambitious projects which will benefit our residents.
Working Hours:
This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week. The postholder will normally work between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to meet the needs of the role. Attendance at evening and occasional weekend meetings may be required.
Salary:
The salary will be paid in accordance with the SLCC/NALC National Salary Scales and is set at LC2 (above substantive), SCP 29 to 32 (£39,862 to £42,839 FTE). The starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

Primarily office-based in Finchampstead, with some flexibility for occasional hybrid working
