Community Development Worker
The Role
We are looking for a passionate Community Development Worker to strengthen local charities, community groups, and social enterprises with a health and wellbeing focus. You’ll help organisations overcome challenges, source volunteers, secure funding, and build partnerships.
You’ll also advocate for marginalised communities and those with protected characteristics, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making. This role is all about connecting people, fostering collaboration, and making a real difference in Wokingham Borough.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for community groups and organisations.
- Attend community events and networking forums.
- Support organisations with governance, funding, and volunteer recruitment.
- Identify gaps in local provision and help develop partnerships.
- Signpost residents and organisations to Involve’s services.
- Produce quarterly reports and maintain accurate records.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Knowledgeable about the local area and services.
- Experienced in engaging and advocating for vulnerable or seldom-heard communities.
- Friendly, empathetic, and a great communicator.
- Organised, proactive, and confident working independently and as part of a team.
- IT literate (Office 365) and committed to continuous learning.
Essential: Access to a car with business insurance (travel across Wokingham Borough required).
Flexibility: Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed.
