We are looking to recruit a Part time Allotment Handyperson to join our team and play a key role in supporting our allotments.

About the team:

We are a vibrant team which values teamwork and a love for the environment. We have strong community values and are a social team. You will work directly to the Allotment Officer, helping to maintain and develop the town council’s eight allotment sites.

About the role:

The successful candidate will work with our Allotment Officer to maintain our eight allotments, spread across the town area. We are looking for a self-sufficient, resilient individual with an eye for detail who will take care of our allotments to a high standard so that our tenants can enjoy them.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position, your application will clearly evidence:

• Your skills in DIY and/or the use of hand tools
• Your ability to manage your own time effectively
• Your experience of engaging with and working with a wide range of different people
• Your knowledge of horticulture or an enthusiasm to learn on the job
• A full UK driving licence (access provided to work vehicles shared with other members of the team)

Benefits:

• £13.50 per hour (£10,530 per annum, based on a 15-hour week)
• We also offer a generous holiday allowance of 5 weeks’ paid days, plus bank holidays and membership of the Local Government pension scheme.
