Request removal of roadwork signs, barriers and sandbags
As well as road maintenance works, carried out by our contractors, there are numerous other organisations (particularly providers gas, electricity, water, sewerage, and telecoms) who carry out work on roads, footways and bridges in Wokingham Borough. More than 80 percent of roadworks in the borough are undertaken by utility companies. We are legally required to allow them access to our road network to carry out their essential works.
Our Streetworks Team works closely with all Works Promoters to ensure works are done safely and with as little disruption as possible for road users, pedestrians, cyclists, and the workers themselves.
Once works are complete, we expect all signage, barriers, sandbags and equipment to be removed promptly. These are often collected by a separate team after the main crew have left the site. Occasionally, items are not picked up as planned.
How to request removal
If you notice any leftover signs, barriers, or sandbags, please complete a Highway General Enquiry Form.
- Select 'Roadworks and closures' from the drop-down menu
- Then choose 'Roadwork signs/barriers/sandbags'
This will send your request directly to our Streetworks Team. Please include details about the items left behind and the exact location. Our team will investigate and contact the company responsible to ensure the items are removed.
