Residents are invited to celebrate local people and groups making a difference across Wokingham Borough by putting them forward for a Mayor’s Honour Award.

The annual awards celebrate individuals and organisations that have made an exceptional contribution to their communities, recognising acts of kindness, dedication and services that help make the borough a better place to live.

Nominations are now open and residents are encouraged to put forward adults, young people and community groups who have gone above and beyond to support others.

There are up to six adult and community group awards and up to six junior awards, with winners chosen by the Mayor of Wokingham Borough. Recipients will be honoured at a special awards ceremony in the spring.

Cllr Rob Comber, Mayor of Wokingham Borough, said: “The Mayor's Honour Awards are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the people who make a real difference in our communities.

“Whether it's through volunteering, supporting neighbours, leading community projects or simply showing exceptional kindness, there are so many people whose efforts deserve recognition.

“No deed is too small. I encourage residents to take a few minutes to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond and helped make our borough a better place.”

Previous award recipients have included volunteers supporting local foodbanks, community groups maintaining orchards, young people recognised for acts of bravery, charities helping children improve their reading skills and residents who have dedicated many years to supporting local causes.
