New multi-use hall opened at The Piggott School
The completion of the dining hall is the last part of a phased, expansion project.
Borough Mayor Cllr Carol Jewell has officially opened a brand-new, multi-use hall at The Piggott Church of England School in Wargrave by cutting a ribbon.
The event took place on Monday 16 March and was also attended by the headteacher, teachers and pupils from The Piggott School, the Agape Multi-Academy Trust, and executive member for Children’s Services and Deputy Leader of the council Cllr Prue Bray.

The completion of the dining hall is the last part of a phased, expansion project at The Piggott School. The project allows an additional 230 pupils, with enhanced sixth form facilities. The Piggott School has been working with the council to provide extra secondary school places since 2021.
The hall includes a main hall and dining area, plus a dedicated working space and staff office. The hall is used for collective worship every morning for assemblies. From 8am to 2pm, the hall transforms into a spacious dining hall for all students to enjoy breakfast, break time food and lunch.

Borough Mayor Cllr Carol Jewell said: “I am delighted to open the new hall at The Piggott School. It is a fantastic, versatile space for both pupils and staff. It is a privilege to celebrate this occasion with the school, trust and council.”
Executive member for children’s services, Cllr Prue Bray said: “The new hall is the last part of a phased project at this school, and it is great to see it completed. We want to provide fair opportunities for everyone to learn which is why the council has been working with a number of schools in our borough to invest in additional secondary school places.”

Chief Executive Officer for Agape Multi-Academy Trust, Derren Gray said: “The Piggott School and Agape Multi Academy Trust have a continuing commitment to working collaboratively with the local authority to meet the local community’s need for school places, and welcomes this significant investment in the school’s estate to further enhance the educational experiences of children at The Piggott.”
Previous phases included a modular four classroom block for Religious Education (completed in September 2021), alterations to the science department and extension of the lab (completed in October 2024) and the installation of four flood lit all weather netball and tennis courts (completed in Spring 2025).

The contractors for this project are Contract Trading Services Ltd based in Wokingham.
The consultants for this project are HLM Architects based in London.
The Piggott School is one of many secondaries the council is investing in. In 2024, work was completed on a new dining hall at The St Crispin’s School in Wokingham and later this year a new sixth form will open at Bohunt Wokingham in Arborfield. Plans are also progressing to provide permanent facilities for the Emmbrook School Sixth Form in Wokingham.
