Eligible households in Wokingham Borough can now access free home energy saving improvements through the Government’s Warm Homes: Local Grant. The scheme aims to help residents reduce heat loss, lower energy bills and improve comfort in their homes.

This partnership is led by Portsmouth City Council and is funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Insulation, heat pumps, solar panels and more

Residents may be able to receive fully funded improvements such as loft or wall insulation, solar panels, air source heat pumps and modern heating controls. Homeowners and private renters can apply. Landlords can also take part, with full funding available for their first eligible property and partial funding available for additional properties.

Check your eligibility

Households may qualify if their income is £36,000 or under, if they receive a means tested benefit or if their home has an EPC rating of D, E, F or G. Homes with gas boilers are also eligible for the scheme. All work is completed by accredited installers following a home survey.

Cllr Katrin Harding, executive member for Environment and Climate Emergency, said:

We know that energy costs are a huge worry for many households, especially in light of recent  international events. This funding offers free upgrades that can help keep homes warm and reduce bills for the long term. It is a simple way for eligible residents to improve comfort and save money, and I would urge people to check whether they qualify.”

Residents can check their eligibility at www.warmerhomes.org.uk or call 0800 038 5737.

Funding is available while the grant lasts, so we encourage residents to check their eligibility as soon as they can.
